« As we approach International Women’s Day on March 8th, we must reflect on the ongoing struggles faced by women in the DRC
. Celebrating this day without acknowledging the brutal realities many Congolese women endure would be a disservice to their resilience.

For decades, the women of Congo have faced unimaginable violence, particularly in the eastern regions they are victims of abduction, rape, and murder, their bodies turned into battlegrounds in a war.
Despite international declarations and resolutions aimed at protecting women’s rights, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter, these promises remain unfulfilled. women have suffered the horrors of sexual violence, and many more face daily threats to their lives and dignity. We cannot celebrate without addressing these injustices.
On this 2025 International Women’s Day, let us stand in solidarity with the women of Congo
and demand that their rights be respected and protected. Their stories deserve to be heard, and their fight for freedom and dignity must continue. It is time for the world to listen and act. We will not be silenced » @maroygrace Coordinator of @mwanamkekeshodrc
