As the dry season has not yet begun, there is a growing uncertainty surrounding the ongoing water crisis in the city of Bukavu. It is imperative that urgent measures are taken to address this situation, as the consequences are extremely detrimental, particularly for women.
Some women, during their menstrual periods, are deprived of access to clean water, resulting in not only physical difficulties but also health issues and a violation of their dignity and well-being.
The situation is equally alarming for women responsible for household management, as access to water is essential for daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and hygiene. Without water, these tasks become extremely challenging or even impossible, leading to a deterioration in the living conditions of families as a whole.
The fundamental rights of the population of Bukavu, especially women, are at stake, and we must take action.
